APTECH instruments have been proven superior in a wide variety of applications. They ensure your end product meets specifications and you achieve your profitability goals.
With a worldwide interest for alternative fuels, the importance of using biodiesel as a blending component with diesel fuel has significantly increased. Biodiesel Fatty Acid Methyl Esters (FAMEs) offer an alternative to fossil diesel fuel since it can be blended with petroleum diesel or used as pure biodiesel.
PAC analyzers are designed to measure physical properties in diesel fuel and blending streams with minimal operator intervention. The most common diesel analysis include tests for water contamination, ash content, cetane number, cloud point, cold filter plugging point, pour point, lubricity, and particulate contamination. Our diesel analyzers comply with standards: ASTM D975, ASTM D396, ASTM D7467, ASTM D2880, EU 590 and their methods and specifications.
PAC instruments have defined instrumentation standards for decades on various gaseous products such as natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas.
Gasoline analysis is critical to maintaining fuel quality, safety, regulatory and environmental compliance, while maintaining consistency of performance. Our gasoline analyzers comply with standards: ASTM D4814, EN 228 and their methods and specifications.
Standard methods like ASTM D1655, ASTM D3241, ASTM D7566, or DEF STAN 91-91 are required for every batch of jet fuel produced to measure, freeze point, density and oxidation stability of the fuel, among others. PAC offers industry-proven instruments to help you meet all requirements for jet fuel analysis.
Lubrication oil impacts the reliability, fuel economy, emissions, and maintenance costs of a wide range of operating machinery. Oil degradation leads to higher operating costs and provides important early warnings of problems that can lead to premature and potentially catastrophic equipment failures.
On January 1st, 2020, the International Marine Organization’s (IMO) regulations will limit the sulfur content in fuel oil used on ships from 3.5% to 0.5% m/m worldwide according to the MARPOL 2020 Convention. This will drastically create a massive demand for low sulfur fuels.
There are several fuel options to stay in compliance with the IMO 2020 regulations: VLSFO, LNG, HSFO and MGO. Marine Gas Oil (MGO), will most likely account for the majority of the marine fuel use since it’s already widely available, operationally tested and it requires no investment or new operating procedures.
Switching to Marine Gas Oil (MGO) requires careful consideration of viscosity, cold flow properties, flash point, FAME content, as well as sulfur, particularly in extreme temperatures.
Blending bunkers from different suppliers can result in fuel instability and incompatibility.
PAC offers the following marine fuel solutions for vessel owners, ports and contract labs which will be some of the most affected by the sulphur regulations in 2020.
Oil analysis can be conducted both off-line (in laboratory settings) and in-line (on equipment). Lab analysis is accurate, but because samples are tested infrequently and inconsistently, it is difficult to identify serious trends prior to expensive or catastrophic failures. Real-time on-machine oil condition monitoring is a better choice for optimizing equipment performance and life-cycle costs.
